Manufacturers and suppliers who want to guarantee that their freshwater fish and seafood originate from sustainable sources, and want to pass this guarantee onto the end users, need to manage their supply chain data in order to prove that their production is sustainable.
Data management also helps companies to obtain the required sustainability certifications for fisheries, such as the MSC standard for sustainable fishing and the ASC standard for the data management and transparency of information.
In 2016, Control Union acquired a shareholding in Macalister Elliott and Partners Ltd (MEP), a leading fisheries and aquaculture consultancy with more than 40 years’ experience. We have completed projects on every major continent and our staff are involved in a wide variety of projects, in both the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, with a particular focus on Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
We work with a large variety of stakeholders, from scientists and commercial organisations right to the individual fisher folk, who fish just to feed their families. We developed a niche for the completion of feasible and due diligence projects within both the fishing and aquaculture industries and completed biological and analytical projects including large tuna tagging programs in the IOTC region and observer programs across the globe.
